The breed
Ibizan hound - Podenco ibicenco
It has a very high prey drive. It is unofficially the most high jumping dog breed in the world, very clever and there is nothing it doesn't notice. It learns very quickly, doesn't like repetitions in training and gets very bonded with its owner. It is quite soft in nature, unless in hunting mode. Still reading? Good! There's much to love in ibicenco!

Before you contact a breeder, you should read more about ibicencos. Read all you can find! Watch hunting videos. Then contact an ibicenco owner or breeder and ask if you could come meet the dog/dogs in person. I suggest you meet them in a couple different environments: In woods or other places where their owner can run them loose safely, and in their own home. In a show environment it is possible that they are not quite the same. They could be bored and their owner/breeder might be a little too busy to answer all your questions even if they wanted to. If you are able to, meet several individual dogs, since they are unique and you can't form an opinion based on a single dog. But I should warn you, once you start to study ibicencos, you are already lost. It is only matter of time when you will have your own big-eared, red-nosed, loco, deer-kangaroo.
If you are convinced you want to get one for yourself, you should find breeders and contact them (lucky you are already at my page). Please introduce yourself and tell them why you are interested in this breed, what kind of dog/puppy you want, what kind of owner you would be, what kind of home environment you could offer and what made you contact this particular breeder. That's a good start!
